CANCER OVARY

Treatment: most preferrred treatment for complete cure is “ SURGERY’ UPTO STAGE 3 Other treatments includes - CHEMOTHERAPY for stage 3 onward OR FOR ADVANCED DISEASE TO BEGIN WITH OR FOR EXCESS FLUID IN ABDOMEN 3 cycles chemotherapy is given prior to surgery followed by remaining 3 cycles if advanced disease is found in the beginning

Surgery: is always open explorative surgery.

Laproscopy and robotic: not offered in proven disease cases. In some 2nd surgeries it can be offered If ovarian mass is found and diagnosis is needed, during surgery, frozen section is recommended rather than a ct or usg guided biopsy as ovarian cancer can spread

Fertility sparing surgery : is possible in younger women who wish to have children, provided early stage disease of a particular type is found. Needs in depth consultation to understand the benefits and possible problems of this treatment . mostly offered for young patients with germ cell tumors.
