Cervical Cancer

Our centre offers comprehensive care for women with cervical cancer, from early-stage disease to advanced cases. We focus on accurate diagnosis, detailed staging and evidence-based treatment planning to ensure every woman receives a personalised approach. With her extensive experience and international training, Dr. Prachi Thakar performs advanced cervical cancer surgeries, including minimally invasive and fertility-sparing procedures whenever appropriate.

In collaboration with Dr. K.D. Thakar, we provide surgery and chemotherapy under one roof, creating a seamless continuum of care. We also emphasise prevention and early detection through colposcopy, HPV testing and patient education — combining cutting-edge treatment with compassionate support to achieve the best possible outcomes and preserve women’s quality of life.

CANCER CERVIX

It is the cancer of the MOUTH of the uterus. It can be detected in precancer stages by regular pap screening and colposcopy for any abnormal pap test result or colposcopy for cervical ulcer

Treatment: Most preferrred treatment for complete cure is “ SURGERY’ However it can be done only in stages 1 and very early stage2 Other treatments includes - Radiation for stage 2 onwward Occasionally chemotherapy is given prior to surgery followed by radiation for stage 2 disease

Surgery: required is a radical surgery which is very different from routine hysterectomy. In radical we require to remove all tissue surrounding the uterus and cervix as this tissue carries lymphatics which may be carrying cancer cells. if normal hysterectomy is done, all this tissue containing cancer cells will be left behind and disease can re-occur from it.hence a bigger surgery is required

Laproscopy and Robotic: can be offered to only those patients with very small disease of a particular type only

Fertility sparing surgery: is possible in younger women who wish to have children, provided early stage disease of a particular type is found. Needs in depth consultation to understand the benefits and possible problems of this treatment
